Using for about 6 months. It is so easy to use. I can’t say about the accuracy. The box is very useful to carry it along with. This is a new model, and doesn’t contains the slot for coding chip, which used to be provided with test strips. This makes easy for older and low educated people.

I measured my blood sugar level using this instrument and at the same time checked it through a pathological lab and it was off by 30units i.e meter had an error of +30.

This is a standard across most sugar meters but there are better ones out there. Check out the Bayer Contour Plus and Plus One.The Accu-chek Active comes with a plastic case that feels cheap and probably will not last very long. However the biggest advantage of Accu-chek is the price of test strips and lancets is lower than that of the competition. Availability is better.

This is a good machine. Quite accurate. People who say the this machine is very inaccurate must understand that there are a lot of factors involved in taking readings. Here are a few pointers to keep in mind before judging your meter. I am NOT a doctor, so these are my views according to my experience and after reading a lot of articles about blood sugar measuring machines and speaking to a few doctors.Points to consider:1. The readings from capillary blood, which is what oozes out when we prick a finger with the lancets, will not be as accurate as the venous blood that is drawn from a vein at a professional lab. Even though some machines are calibrated to display venous blood reading after converting the capillary blood reading to venous reading, there will be some difference.2. Every machine, no matter which brand it is, will be off by +- 10-20% of the actual blood sugar level.3. To know the difference between lab and machine results, one should take the machine to their lab while giving blood sample for testing, and take a reading at the same time as the blood is drawn for collection.4. Readings taken at home using two different brand machines, and the SAME DROP OF BLOOD, will also show different readings. I’ve attached an image of two machine readings taken using the same drop of blood. Do not go on the time stamp because the Acchu-check machine was set a few seconds ahead of the actual time, by mistake.5. Even if you send the same blood sample to two different professional labs, the results could vary.6. A 10%-15% difference is normal, between lab test results and a home testing device.7. Suppose you take a reading at 10AM at home and then go to a lab and the blood is drawn at 10:10AM, the results will vary. OR if you take first reading at home or lab, at 10AM and then again at 10:10AM, at home or lab. The results will vary. So, what I feel should be done is, compare the lab and the home meter readings (both taken at the SAME TIME). Calculate the difference in PERCENTAGE and not in points. Whenever taking a reading at home, add/subtract that percentage to/from the displayed result.Unless your machine is showing a huge difference between lab result and machine result, after considering all the above factors, please do not judge any machine as ‘inaccurate’.
