MailChimp for E-commerce and Social Integration
Check out our step-by-step tutorial below.
Step 1: Set Up Your Account
Sign Up: Type your Email, Username (store name), and Password and Click Get Started! You can sign up with the same email (like Gmail) as your Zotezo partner account. Earn by social sharing: Open your FREE Zotezo store: zotezo.com/partners/
Activate account: You will receive a Welcome to MailChimp email to activate your new account.
Verify your Domain: If you have a domain, you need to verify it first. You will need to provide a URL for your website when you sign up. If you do not have a website, you can use a free blog or your social media channel, or a personal profile page.
Step 2: Set Up & Build Your Lists
Navigate to the Lists page. Create different email lists by importing contacts from a Google account, Google drive or import a contacts file to MailChimp. Choose Import and then Integrated Service, or Download an Excel file. Advanced developers can use the MailChimp API to add a list of subscribers.
It is best to first create one master list. It makes sending newsletters, tracking and managing subscribers easy. You can avoid duplicates, manage unsubscribes quickly and run multiple automated campaigns effectively. After creating your master list, you can create multiple groups or segments in your list. Then select and add or import a spreadsheet of subscribers to different groups in your list.
For example: Promote your Zotezo store using MailChimp for various segments like Influencer, Expert, Partner, Men, Women, Baby Care, Elderly Care, etc.
Multiple lists are useful only if you know what segment your users belong to. Otherwise, stick to the master list.
Step 3: Design Your Email Templates
After set up you can add your product, create a layout, text, colours, background, and fonts within the design content template. Here you can upload images from your folders or e-store URL. Save your templates by different names.
Step 4: Create Your First Campaign
After creating group lists and your first email template, you are ready to send your first newsletter to one of your lists. Navigate to the Campaigns page to build your first campaign and design your landing page – the webpage(s) where your readers will land after clicking an image, a button or link.
Create a Landing Page: Just like the email templates, you can create several types of landing page templates. Most landing pages fulfill short term goals. Some are for expanding your contacts lists and others are for displaying special offers, promotions, or services. But they are all easy to create and look attractive using Mailchimp.
Customize Signup or Subscriber Forms: This is another way to grow your lists. After landing on your site, you can add subscribers to a group list at signup – Forms do this automatically! This is how you can create custom sign-up forms:
- Embed a Form on your website’s footer or sidebar.
- Use effective Pop-ups to grab the user’s attention.
- Share your form by posting links anywhere via social media, IM, forums so people can sign up from any device.
Remember: Test a new campaign out before sending it to users.
Step 5: Integrate Social Networks
This built-in suite of tools is simply genius!
Social integration by Mailchimp is the easiest way to target your audience on social media. Friends and followers can re-share your content or buy right from your landing page campaign. Here are three ways to use the built-in social integration tool.
How to Use 'Social Share'
- Navigate to the campaigns page.
- Go to Integrations tabs for Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Google+ accounts to login in for each social network.
- Start sharing your e-store items using the ‘Social Share’ content blocks tool.
- Use the same templates from your email campaigns to ensure the brand is consistent.
Facebook & Instagram Ads
Get an instant ad builder! MailChimp’s social integration makes it super easy to create attractive ads for Facebook and Instagram in seconds. Know the best part?
You do not have to advertise multiple places.
One ad is enough to build email contacts and share on 2 networks. It is not only more convenient, but also economical. Mailchimp customers can target users on Facebook by promoting ad campaigns for $5/day. Mailchimp users can also use Google's huge database to retarget potential customers across the web.
Social Follow Buttons
When your readers click social follow buttons on your newsletter, you will get more followers on the different social media pages. MailChimp integration tool connects with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube, Vimeo, Vine, Tumblr, Medium, and Reddit.
You can add a maximum of 10 Social Follow buttons from the content block list. However, it is best to pick just five or six from this top 10 list for your emailers. As a general rule, you can pick those networks where your followers show the highest engagement.
Step 6: Invite Users
Invite people via email if you want to add more than one person to manage the MailChimp account. Click account settings, then account users and click invite a user choosing one of 5 user levels: Owner, Admin, Manager, Author, and Viewer.
Step 7: Send a Survey
Email surveys are becoming increasingly popular with big brands. There are 3 email survey options you can try:
- Poll Merge Tag
- Survey Merge Tag
- Integration Tools
Step 8: View Reports & Analytics
Using the powerful analytics built-in tools, MailChimp can monitor all your campaigns and provide reports on your ROI. Check how your email and social media campaigns are doing for a demographic at that time. Then you can make changes to better target subscribers based on their interests.
Analytics 360 is another useful and easy-to-use Mailchimp integration tool. In fact, MailChimp adds Google Analytics tracking codes to your campaigns with a single click! Combine your Google stats with MailChimp campaign reports to get ROI, conversion rate, revenue, page views, bounce rates, and goals for each campaign. Once you have integrated your MailChimp account with a Google account, add Google Analytics tracking to your email campaign archives and pages.
What are the Pros and Cons of Mailchimp?
What’s New in Mailchimp?
1. Gets a ‘facelift’
Since September 2018, the brand updated the logo, wordmark, typeface, colours, and illustrations. They even took the capital C out of "MailChimp".
2. Social Integration
A year ago, MailChimp integrated more deeply with the social media behemoth, Facebook. Marketers can use Mailchimp data to create, buy, and track your Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns from within the tool itself.
3. Landing Pages with a twist
Users can create landing pages with full e-commerce abilities. Direct landing pages from before did not allow built-in payments right into the pages. Now you can track visitors, clicks, conversions, and revenue, and see which content works best with different audiences.

4. Mailchimp Postcards
This feature allows users to send by snail mail! Surprisingly, the ESP is getting a good response from customers.
5. But the best is yet to come
MailChimp has come a long way, but we look forward to even more new features from them.
From a mere emailing, the brand has grown into a multi-channel online marketing tool. They claim to have over 20 million customers, up from 16 million a year ago. It is interesting that experienced marketers are also switching to Mailchimp. They must be doing something right!
In September 2018, the CEO and co-founder, Ben Chestnut wrote on their Instagram account:
"Mailchimp has always been a little bit different. We’ve come a long way since we started the company in 2001, growing beyond email to a leading marketing platform for small business. Today, we launched an updated brand and website, designed to tell that story. We’re all grown up now, but still a little bit different."
