Want to banish hair woes at home but don’t know how?
Like nature-made things, homemade masks are an excellent, chemical-free way to keep hair healthy and manageable. They are not only eco-friendly, easy on your pocket, but also easy to find right in your kitchen! Once a week, use one of these organic DIY hair masks for deep conditioning summer hair, according to the hair concern you face.
Frizzy, flyaway hair? This is easily the most common summer hair problem, especially in humid climates. Blend avocado and olive oil. Apply to hair, leave on for 30 min., rinse off.
Itchy scalp? Banana mixed with honey or yoghurt is an easy recipe for moisturising dry hair, taming frizz, and adding a healthy shine to your hair. Banana is great food for scalp health. It cures dry, itchy scalp and makes roots stronger.
Dry, dull hair? Soaring temperatures are the worst for dry hair. Very dry or damaged hair needs weekly oil massages before shampooing. Use olive oil or coconut oil. Coconut cream mask also works wonders as a natural hair gloss. Massage the creamy insides of a tender green coconut onto your locks and wash off to show off glossy locks.
Chlorine damaged hair? All that fun in the sun, swimming and diving take a toll on the best of hair. Egg-masks work well on “swimmer’s hair”. Chlorinated pool water will strip hair of moisture; it is a chemical and will lighten your hair colour too. Always wear a cap before you swim, and shower afterwards. Rinse out the chlorine with plenty of warm water, using a de-chlorinating shampoo.
Hair breakage? Unruly, dry hair not only looks wild, but it is more brittle than usual in summer, causing hair loss and breakage. Soak Hibiscus flower petals in a bowl for a few hours; blend it with curd or coconut oil and apply to hair and scalp.
