Shilpa Shetty is considered to be one hot mamma, even by other celebs! Here are nine useful Shilpa Shetty yoga tips for all you pregnant moms out there who want to get rid of your post-delivery baby bump. Looking at Shilpa’s post-natal figure and fitness (which she regained quickly), she gained over 80 pounds!
This is truly amazing, even for an actor!
Shilpa Shetty put on over 30 kg by going on a high-fat diet that included ghee and milk. She shed 20 kilos in a few months, right after her pregnancy and one of the reasons for her success was Yoga. This traditional Indian workout works well for postnatal fitness because it gradually tones sagging muscles, targets excess belly fat, giving way to weight loss.
Post delivery, the model and actress struggled with her pregnancy weight loss. She worked out while her bouncing baby boy, Viaan slept during the day. She began with light exercises such as cycling and walking for 20 minutes and gradually increased the intensity, and added yoga to her fitness routine.
Shilpa Shetty was first introduced to Yoga by her physiotherapist to cure her neck pain, and soon she got addicted to Ashtanga Yoga.
Since then, she has never looked back.
She went on to release three audio-visual Yoga CDs, covering yoga poses (which she calls her Yogasanas) including Pranayama. “Prana” means breath or vital energy in your body, and “ayama” means control. Pranayam yoga poses release pranic energy exisiting deep within the body and mind.
After the success of the CDs, the Bollywood actress wanted to share her fitness and diet secrets with the world even more. Besides yoga and the gym, her health and fitness book THE GREAT INDIAN DIET, co-authored by nutrition and fitness expert Luke Coutinho, busts food trend myths, and about Indian cuisine being fattening.
Shilpa strongly feels yoga soothes the body, mind and soul harmoniously. She has one of the most toned and flattest bellies of Bollywood divas. Her sculpted figure comes from a regular workout routine involving: Yoga, Pranayam and Meditation (Dhyan) for two days, strength training exercises for two days, and one day for cardiovascular exercises.
