Why mango is a healthy choice
You have heard the saying: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”.
But, actually, it is the mango. During scorching Indian summers, the mango is the fruit that does the trick. Cold mango shakes are not only refreshing but very filling. So it conveniently replaces or complements the banana on hot and humid days. The difference between the fruits is:

- 2 medium Alfonso mangoes.
- 2 cups cashew milk, almond milk or regular milk.
- 2 tsp jaggery (gur) or organic brown sugar.
- 4 to 5 ice cubes.
- Chopped pistachio, almond, cashew nuts.
- 1 pinch kesar.
- 1 pinch saffron.
Soak both the mangoes in tap water for an hour before use. Wash, peel and chop mangoes into small pieces and put them in a blender. Add gur and kesar to the blender. Blend everything until smooth and creamy. You can either blend with ice cubes, or add them at the end. Pour your freshly prepared mango shake into a tall chilled glass. Garnish with crushed nuts and a couple of saffron strands.
Mango Shake Recipe Tip: Be very picky about your mangoes. Choose the more juicy varieties with little or no pulp. Juicy Chaunsa mangoes from Himachal Pradesh, the famous Alfonso mangoes from Maharashtra, or the fibreless Himsagar Aam from West Bengal are some of the best mangoes for juicing and blending into yummy mango milkshakes.
