Ofloxacin is used for Bacterial Infections

How Ofloxacin Works

Ofloxacin inhibits synthesis of the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase by counteracting excessive supercoiling of DNA during replication or transcription. Inhibition of DNA gyrase
causes rapid- and slow-growing bacterial cells to die.

Common side effects of Ofloxacin

Nausea, Vomiting, Dizziness, Dryness In Mouth, Altered Taste, Abdominal Pain, Agitation, Anxiety, Fever, Constipation, Allergic Reaction, Impaired Concentration, Sweating, Headache

Interaction

Drug : aluminum-, calcium-, or magnesiumcontaining antacids; didanosine; ferrous sulfate; magnesium-containing laxatives; multivitamins; sevelamer; sucralfate; zinc: Decreased absorption of oral ofloxacin.

probenecid: Decreased ofloxacin excretion, increased risk of toxicity.

procainamide: Decreased renal clearance of procainamide.

warfarin: Possibly increased anticoagulant activity and risk of bleeding.
