How Oxcarbazepine Works

Oxcarbazepine may prevent or halt seizures by closing or blocking sodium channels in neuronal cell membrane. By preventing sodium from entering the cell, oxcarbazepine may slow nerve impulse transmission, thus decreasing the rate at which neurons fire.
