Bacterial infections (Ear, Nose, Throat, GU Tract, Respiratory Tract, Skin)

Side effects of Altacef 250 mg Injection

The most common side effects of Altacef 250 mg Injection are – Nausea, Vomiting, Dizziness, Dryness In Mouth, Altered Taste, Abdominal Pain, Agitation, Anxiety, Fever, Constipation, Allergic Reaction, Impaired Concentration, Sweating, Headache

These side effects can usually occur in patients. However, these are only indicative and not all patients will experience them.

Precautions while using Altacef 250 mg Injection

Do not use Altacef 250 mg Injection if you are allergic to – Cefuroxime

If you have heart disease, liver or kidney disease, drug or alcohol addiction, consult your doctor before using Altacef 250 mg Injection.

If you are allergic to any medicine or food, consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Use this medicine under the supervision of your doctor.

To avoid an adverse reaction, consult your doctor if you are already taking other medicines.

How Altacef 250 mg Injection works

Altacef 250 mg Injection contains – Cefuroxime

Cefuroxime interferes with bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting the final step in the crosslinking of peptidoglycan strands. Peptidoglycan makes the cell membrane rigid and protective. Without it, bacterial cells rupture and die.

Dosage of Altacef 250 mg Injection

The dosage of Altacef 250 mg Injection depends on many factors such as the patient age, health, medical condition or history of the patient and many other conditions.

Please use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor.

Overdose of Altacef 250 mg Injection

If you forget to take a dose of Altacef 250 mg Injection, do not take two doses at the same time, there is a risk of overdose.

If you notice any unusual reaction in your body after taking this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or call your local medical emergency number.

Overdose symptoms – Seizure (Abnormal electrical activity in the brain)

Onset of Action Altacef 250 mg Injection

Time taken to show the effect of the drug: Oral dose 1 to 2 hours, intramuscular dose 15 to 60 minutes, intravenous dose 2 to 5 minutes.

Duration of Action Altacef 250 mg Injection

Effect of medication lasts for an average of 4 to 8 hours.
