Side effects of Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR
The most common side effects of Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR are – Fatigue, Dizziness, Depression, Nightmares, Short-Term Memory Loss, Hypotension, Headache, Insomnia, Mental Confusion, Bradycardia, Edema, Palpitations, Diarrhea, Constipation, Heartburn, Nausea, Dry Mouth, Flatulence, Gastric Pain
These side effects can usually occur in patients. However, these are only indicative and not all patients will experience them.

Do not use Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR if you are allergic to – Metoprolol

How Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR works
Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR contains – Metoprolol
Metoprolol is a selective beta blocker that selectively blocks beta receptors, decreases cardiac output, peripheral resistance and cardiac oxygen consumption, and depresses renin secretion.
Dosage of Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR
The dosage of Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR depends on many factors such as the patient age, health, medical condition or history of the patient and many other conditions.

Overdose of Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR
If you forget to take a dose of Embeta 12.5mg Tablet XR, do not take two doses at the same time, there is a risk of overdose.

Interaction
Drug :- Amiodarone: May increase bradycardic effects. Monitor therapy.
Barbiturates: May reduce metoprolol effect. Monitor therapy.
Calcium channel blockers: May increase hypotensive effects. Monitor therapy.
Cardiac glycosides: May cause excessive bradycardia and increased depressant effect on myocardium. Use together cautiously.
Catecholamine-depleting drugs (MAO inhibitors, reserpine): May have additive effect. Monitor patient for hypotension and bradycardia.
Fluoxetine, paroxetine, propafenone, quinidine: May increase metoprolol level. Monitor vital signs.
Hydralazine: May increase levels and effects of both drugs. Monitor patient closely. May need to adjust dosage.
I.V. lidocaine: May reduce hepatic metabolism of lidocaine, increasing risk of toxicity. Give bolus doses of lidocaine at a slower rate, and monitor lidocaine level closely.
Terbutaline: May antagonize bronchodilatory effects of terbutaline. Monitor patient.
Verapamil: May increase effects of both drugs. Monitor cardiac function closely, and decrease dosages as needed.
Herb :- Ma huang: May decrease antihypertensive effects. Discourage use together.
