Uses of Esoprazole 40mg Tablet

Esoprazole 40mg Tablet is used for the treatment or prevention of the following disease(s):

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Gastric Ulcer

Side effects of Esoprazole 40mg Tablet

The most common side effects of Esoprazole 40mg Tablet are – Headache, Diarrhea, Abdominal Pain, Nausea, Dizziness, Asthenia, Vomiting, Constipation, Rash, Cough

These side effects can usually occur in patients. However, these are only indicative and not all patients will experience them.

Precautions while using Esoprazole 40mg Tablet

Do not use Esoprazole 40mg Tablet if you are allergic to – Esomeprazole

If you have heart disease, liver or kidney disease, drug or alcohol addiction, consult your doctor before using Esoprazole 40mg Tablet.

If you are allergic to any medicine or food, consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Use this medicine under the supervision of your doctor.

How Esoprazole 40mg Tablet works

Esoprazole 40mg Tablet contains – Esomeprazole

Esomeprazole works by decreasing the amount of acid made in the stomach.

Dosage of Esoprazole 40mg Tablet

The dosage of Esoprazole 40mg Tablet depends on many factors such as the patient age, health, medical condition or history of the patient and many other conditions.

Please use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor.

Overdose of Esoprazole 40mg Tablet

If you forget to take a dose of Esoprazole 40mg Tablet, do not take two doses at the same time, there is a risk of overdose.

If you notice any unusual reaction in your body after taking this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or call your local medical emergency number.

Overdose symptoms – Fast heartbeat, blurred vision, nausea, sweating, confusion.

Onset of Action Esoprazole 40mg Tablet

It takes about 1 to 2 hours to show the effect of the medicine.

Duration of Action Esoprazole 40mg Tablet

Effect of medication lasts for an average of 18 to 20 hours.

Interaction

Drug :- antimicrobials: Increased esomeprazole level.

atazanavir, nelfinavir: Decreased blood levels of these drugs.

diazepam: Possibly increased diazepam level.

digoxin, iron salts, ketoconazole: Possibly decreased absorption of these drugs.

saquinavir: Increased plasma saquinavir level with increased toxicity.

voriconazole: Increased esomeprazole exposure and risk of adverse effects.

warfarin: Possibly increased INR and PT, leading to abnormal bleeding.

Food :- all foods: Decreased bioavailability of esomeprazole.
