Interactions

Drug :- amitriptyline, bromocriptine, buspirone, clomipramine, dextromethorphan, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, furazolidone, imipramine, levodopa, lithium, meperidine, naratriptan, nefazodone, paroxetine, pentazocine, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline, sertraline, sibutramine, sumatriptan, tramadol, tranylcypromine, trazodone, venlafaxine, zolmitriptan: Possibly enhanced serotonergic effects of citalopram, resulting in agitation, chills, confusion, diaphoresis, diarrhea, fever, hyperreflexia, hypomania, incoordination, myoclonus, or tremor.

aspirin, NSAIDs, warfarin: Increased risk of bleeding ranging from ecchymoses to lifethreatening hemorrhage.

carbamazepine: Possibly increased clearance of citalopram.

cimetidine: Possibly increased blood citalopram level.

desipramine, metoprolol: Increased blood levels of these drugs.

furazolidone, procarbazine, selegiline: Possibly hyperthermia, rigidity, myoclonus, and extreme agitation progressing to delirium and coma itraconazole, ketoconazole, macrolide antibiotics, omeprazole: Possibly decreased clearance of citalopram.

MAO inhibitors: Increased risk of lifethreatening serotonin syndrome or neuroleptic malignant syndrome.

warfarin: Possibly increased PT.
