Interactions

Drug :- Aluminum salts (kaolin), magnesium: May decrease GI absorption. Separate dose times by 4 hours.

Ampicillin: May significantly reduce bioavailability of ampicillin. Separate dose times by 2 hours.

Cimetidine: May decrease hepatic metabolism of chloroquine. Monitor patient for toxicity.

Cyclosporine: May cause a sudden increase in serum cyclosporine level. Monitor patient closely. If necessary, discontinue chloroquine.

Drugs that prolong QT interval: May have additive effects on QT interval. Avoid concurrent use if possible.

Mefloquine: May increase seizure risk. Avoid concurrent use, and delay administration of mefloquine until at least 12 hours after the last dose of chloroquine when possible.
