Interactions

Drug :- Antipsychotics (risperidone), cyclobenzaprine, dopamine antagonists (metoclopramide): May cause serotonin syndrome (diarrhea, dysreflexia, fever, hallucinations, loss of coordination, nausea, tachycardia). If use together can't be avoided, closely monitor patient for signs and symptoms of serotonin syndrome.

Alert: Aspirin, NSAIDs, warfarin: May increase risk of bleeding. Use together cautiously.

Clomipramine: May cause euphoria and orthostatic hypotension when switching from clomipramine to milnacipran. Use together may also increase risk of serotonin syndrome. Monitor patient closely.

Digoxin: May cause orthostatic hypotension and tachycardia and digoxin-related adverse effects. Avoid use of digoxin I.V., when using oral digoxin and drug together, monitor patient closely.

Lithium, other serotonergic drugs: May cause serotonin syndrome. Avoid use together.

MAO inhibitors: May cause serotonin syndrome. Avoid using drug within 2 weeks after MAO inhibitor therapy, wait at least 5 days after stopping milnacipran or before starting MAO inhibitor.

Methylene blue: May cause CNS toxicity and serotonin syndrome. Avoid use together.

Herb :- Herbs with anticoagulant properties (alfalfa, anise, bilberry): May increase risk of bleeding. Use together cautiously.
