Overall it looks good, easy to install and operate with scheduled or auto mode , good build quality etc but Price is on the upper side i think, 5-6K ideally. Now the review – So I got it 3 weeks back and hardly used for 4-5 days. for the first two days i was excited with the features and display etc but later i found it of not much useful in Bangalore climate. the AQI reading is mostly between 20-45. it jumps from 20 to 40 in no time and vice versa in a partially closed room environment, not sure it should behave this way or an issue with the sensor. the low AQI indicates good air quality so I am not worried much about turning it on everyday. one day it worked as expected when some kitchen smoke filled the room it shown red indicator and fan speed increased. I have experienced a sore throat after switching it on for full night for two days near my bed.Overall its useful for people stay in foggy area with worst air quality, current Bangalore climate doesn’t warrant one, the upcoming winter might need though.

I was initially skeptical about this purifier – but so far it hasn’t disappointed. Design is sleek and modern. Showed a PM2.5 of more than 300 (in Delhi house) and got it down to

The product seems to work well but look at both the Amazon and the MI.com website and the replacement filter is constantly out of stock- what’s the point if one can’t get the air filter easily

Bought the Mi 2S Air purifier on the Diwali sale with 10% Amazon Cash back and 10% HDFC rebate. So overall at that price it was a steal. 3 of us in office bought the purifier in the deal. Since then 2 more colleagues are waiting for a similar deal to buy it after discussing it’s effectiveness. The purifier was delivered on 9th but never got to use it till yesterday as first I was out of station and when we returned it had rained in Delhi NCR and the PM2.5 indicator was showing a reading of less than 100 in Indirapuram. However yesterday I felt the need to use it and when I switched it on it gave me a PM 2.5 reading of 220. So for the first time yesterday since it was delivered decided to use it overnight. Below are my observations.1. Easy to install and operate from the device2. Download of software from the Google Play store was easy and also the app is pretty explanatory3. Had to try 4 to 5 times to setup the device on my smart phone but was not successful so finally had to reset the Mi 2S Purifier and after that in the 1st try was able to set it up.4. Make sure during the setup that the Purifier is close to the Smart Phone and also the router but once the setup is done there is no such requirement. (At least I had to place the Purifier close to the router and smart phone)5. You can completely control the device from your smart phone.6. I am yet to setup using Alexa which I would probably try this or the next weekend and will update.7. As some has complained that the PM 2.5 readings fluctuate a lot. For me also at times it fluctuates and I believe that since it has laser sensors it is bound to happen as when for some reason it does not detect any particle it drops the reading. Probably Mi can have a software update to make it more stable.8. After the setup on the smart phone the firmware on the Purifier got updated. Not sure what improvements were done as I had not used it with the previous firmware.9. There are 3 modes. a) Manual Mode – Very noisy, b) Auto Mode – which I used. This was initially noisy like Manual as the PM 2.5 reading was high (220) but then automatically the fan speed reduced as the PM 2.5 reading came down to 100. c) Sleep Mode – You can hardly hear the fan running but then if the PM 2.5 reading is high this would not be effective9. After usage for the whole night i.e bringing the PM 2.5 from 220 to approx between 50 and 70 the filter shows 99% remaining. The unit was run from 9:30 PM to 7:00 AM next morning non stop in auto mode.I had not had a sound sleep fro the past 5 to 6 days nor did my baby who is 4 month old as she would wake up midnight but today both of us did not wake up till 6:45 AM and I could feel the difference in quality of the air. Seeing it’s usage I believe that the filters would easily last two season as I believe I would not be using it beyond JanuaryWill keep the post updated and do let me know if anyone needs any clarification as I would more than happy to clear your doubts.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Update : 24th Nov 2018Have been using it for almost 5 days now.The night of 19th and 20th Nov were really bad. The PM2.5 reading was hovering around 220 to 240 in Indirapuram inside the house. The device took around 30 to 40 minutes in Auto mode to bring the level down to between 50 and 70. Just to make sure that the whole rooms air was being cleaned and not just the air around the air purifier I switched on both the ceiling fan in the room at a speed of 3 (as the room size is (approx. 13*16) so that the air starts circulating. The PM2.5 jumped by around 10 to 15 units and I was ok with that and this proved that the air in the whole room was being cleaned. Also by the end of two nights the filter showed 99% remaining. On the remaining 3 nights the PM2.5 reading was around 150 to 170. It would bring down the PM2.5 to about 50 in less than 30 minutes. So today morning the filter remaining shows is 98%. Also I compare the humidity and temp it displays with my own temp and humidity sensor. The Temp was of by 1 deg and the humidity level by 4%. So more or less the Temp and Humidity readings are accurate. As for PM2.5 I do not have anything to compare it to.Overall extremely satisfied with the product and I repent why I did not but one earlier. It is a must have thing in Delhi NCR for sure+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Update: 19th Dec 2018Well time for an update as it has been a month since I have been using it.1. Used it yesterday night after a gap of 3 to 4 days as it had drizzled in Delhi NCR approx. 4 to 5 days back.2. The PPM shown was 300+ and within a 20 minutes the PPM was down to 60.3. Took the filter out and could see dust settled on the filter. I tried taking pictures but in photo it is hard to see the dust settled on the filter. So not posting it. However I am posting yesterday’s app screen shot showing the readings and the time it took to bring down the PPM in permissible limits.4. Over a span of month I have probably used the purifier approx 22 to 25 days with it running for approx. 9 hours in the night5. Mostly the PPM being recorded in Indirapuram was between 200 and 300 however in couple of days it was close to 350+ and in one day it was above 400.6. The filter remaining that it shows is 94%. With this rate I guess it would easily last 3 years.7. I had to reset my phone and then again had to setup the purifier on my smart phone. It is true that during the setup the phone, the purifier and the router should all be close to each other but you are good once the setup is done. This is one reason I did not try setting it up with Alexa as I will have to unhook my Fire Cube to take it close to the router and also carrying the purifier is not easy.8. I have been using the purifier in auto mode since the day I bought it. Haven’t used it in any other mode.9. I just wish that it had some easy way to carry it inside the house.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Update: 3rd Jan 2019Well I was not planning to update the thread so quickly however I wanted to give an update which I believe would be useful while making the decision.I was out of city and was in my hometown(Chandigarh) since 21st Dec 2018 and there is hardly any pollution there. I just came back yesterday i.e. 2nd and was surprised to see the pollution in Delhi when entering the Karnal Bypass. So yesterday night switched on the purifier and the reading which it displayed was around 280 (Indirapuram). As expected within 30 minutes the reading was down to 70 and this was around 10 PM. However at around 1:30 AM I woke up due to the high noise as the reading was close to 120 and since I use auto mode automatically the fan speed increased. Due to the high fan speed I was unable to sleep as inspite of high fan speed the PM 2.5 reading was not coming below 90 as that is when the fan speed reduces as the indicator light also turns to orange. Not sure when I slept but again at around 5:00 AM I happen to awake again due to high noise because of high fan speed as reading was again hovering around 120 PPM. So almost whole night I had a disturbed sleep because of high fan speed in auto mode because of high pollution levels i.e. above 100.Today will try to seal all the doors by placing a wet towel in the door gaps and see how the purifier performs. Came to know from my friends that in Delhi for the past 10 days the purifier shows a reading of 600 when it starts and at night also as was the case with me for them also the reading is not going below 100 and as such facing issue of high fan speed.Reducing to 4* from 5* because of high fan speed noise.Updated just this line on 21 Jan 19 – Reverting the rating back to 5* as fan speed is what it is supposed to do in high pollution level. It was my problem that I did not have the room sealed.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Update- 6th Jan.Probably my last update for this pollution season as it had rained in Delhi NCR today morning and now won’t be using it for a week or so and by then the temp. would also rise and the pollution level would also decrease. So for the past 3 to 4 days I have been placing a towel at the lower end of the door which faces the balcony to prevent the outside air from coming in and due to this the pollution level inside the room would stay reduced and as such the fan speed would not increase on auto mode. So if the pollution level increase make it a point to somehow seal the rooms to prevent the outside air from coming in and one way of doing it is to place a wet cloth at the bottom of the doors and the pollution levels would stay contained once the purifier reduces them to a permissible limit. The filter shows remaining as 92% after using it for almost 30 days with 8 to 9 hours per night. That’s it from me. Will be on the lookout for the comments section to clarify any doubts that anyone has.Well I was not anticipating that the pollution level would rise so much. Used it yesterday i.e. the 10th Night and the PM2.5 reading was 380 Indoors. So guess a long time to go before I can pack it for this season 🙂
