Want to control hair loss at home? Try a natural hair fall treatment. Our home remedies should take care of all your monsoon hair fall woes.

Monsoon doesn’t just mean rainfall but also hair fall. If you have gone through the Indian monsoon, you know that heat and humidity gives frizzy hair that gets dry more easily than normal. When smoothing conditioners and flat irons cannot control the wilderness surrounding your head, turn to nature for your hair fall treatment.

These 7 DIY home remedies can do wonders for your mane!

#1 Hair Fall Treatment: Amla

Indian gooseberry, better known as amla, is a blessing for people with hair fall. Mix one tablespoon of amla pulp and lemon juice. Or, massage amla and coconut oil on your scalp thoroughly, leave on overnight and rinse off with a smoothing shampoo in the morning.

#2 Hair Fall Treatment: Oil Massage

Do head massage with hair oils like amla oil, coconut oil, argan oil, almond oil, olive oil, or castor oil. Start hair oiling early one- from the dry season in November through May, for best results. Use lighter and cooler oils as the mercury rises. Switch your base hair oil going from castor, coconut and sesame oils in winter, to almond, olive, amla, jojoba, and bhringraj oils in summer. Add 5 to 10 drops of rosemary essential oil per 1 tablespoon of the base carrier oil for better and faster results. Argan essential oil and wheat germ oil are also effective in summer and winter months, respectively. Massage any of these hair oils on your scalp once a week.

#3 Hair Fall Treatment: Methi

Apply a paste of soaked fenugreek seeds (methi) on the scalp also helps stop hair loss. After about 40 minutes, rinse your hair.

#4 Hair Fall Treatment: Onion Juice & Aloe

Did you know, onion juice is sulphur rich and excellent for hair growth and re-growth? Try mixing fresh aloe vera gel with the juice of one grated onion and olive oil.

#5 Hair Fall Treatment: Eggs

Crack an egg on your head! Eggs are rich in protein, zinc, selenium, sulphur, phosphorus, and iodine. Beat an egg white and a teaspoon of olive oil till thick. Apply this on scalp and hair; leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water and a mild shampoo.

#6 Hair Fall Treatment: Henna

This Indian leaf powder doesn’t just colour and condition; it also makes the hair roots stronger. Apply a henna pack once a month during the rainy season. Mix some olive oil, or break an egg, or add yoghurt into the henna hair pack to make it more nourishing and moisturising.

#7 Hair Fall Treatment: Hibiscus

You can also try mixing hibiscus powder into your hair packs. Hibiscus flower gives multiple hair benefits. It nourishes hair, prevents premature greying, treats dandruff, and also controls hair fall. Crush a few dried hibiscus flowers with sesame or coconut oil, leave on hair and scalp for 2 hours and rinse off with a mild shampoo.

What if these home remedies don’t work for you?

Your hair loss may be due to more than just changing seasons. Hair fall can be a sign that something is wrong with your health. Air and water pollution, too much stress, ageing, deficiencies in your diet, a hormonal imbalance, and genetics affect how much hair you lose. If you have abnormal hair loss, (more than the average 50 to 100 strands per day), it probably won’t stop by merely changing your shampoo, conditioner or hair oil. You need to see your doctor and get a medical check-up.
